Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday to The Bright and Lovely! This first post has been a long time in the making. Years in fact. I bought my house just over five years ago when I moved back to New Mexico after grad school. Since then I started dating the wonderful man who’s now my husband, we got engaged and then married, and now we’re making this little house our home. I’ve always been in love with DIY projects and bringing beauty to daily life, and I carefully stashed away photos of everything I did and learned to share with the world someday.  And that someday is finally here!

Today also happens to be my birthday. I have to admit that birthdays are sacred things to me. They’re a special day that every single person has that marks the passage of time and reminds us of accomplishments, hopes, the precious gift of family of friends, and yes–sometimes even disappointments. It’s a chance to take stock of where we’re at and where we want to be. In that way, they can be very much like the dawning of a new year or the changing of the seasons. My goal this year was to launch my website on my birthday. It’s a new year for me and a new opportunity to share my hobby with others! My sincerest wish is that something I share will make your life and home a little more bright and lovely.
